What is a virtual learning community?

The concept of Professional Learning Community is fast becoming an approach to school improvement and professional development.

A virtual learning community is quite different, but can still satisfy the individual needs for ongoing professional development through social networking and information sharing.  NC LearningOnline is a virtual learning community devoted to online learning.  The target audience includes all educators who have an interest in online learning and distance education in general.  The website includes social networking capabilities, allowing community members to identify others who have common interests.  Anyone can create a community profile at no cost.  read more

The North Carolina Distance Learning Association is proud to announce the 2009 NCDLA Virtual Conference taking place now through May 1, 2009.  More than 650 participants from North Carollina and beyond will participated in more than 48 sessions.
